The North Star Enterprises History
Founded in 1984 by Chris Anderson, North Star Enterprises specializes in providing traffic control solutions for contractors in Eastern Washington and the Inland Northwest. We are recognized as one of the first Women’s Business Enterprises certified under the new laws adopted by the Department of Transportation. This program was established to help encourage and assist Minority and Women’s Business Enterprises in the highway construction industry.
North Star Enterprises started out with three Toyota pickups, a few cones, three WSDOT contracts with three different prime contractors, and with great trepidation plunged into the male-dominated industry. We now have a fleet of over 100 trucks, a vast amount of state-of-the-art traffic control equipment, as well as a rumble strip machine, backhoes, bobcats, and a well experienced management crew to perform our diverse list of specialty contract items.
In 2014, Chris decided to turn the reins over to her daughter and in January, Stephanie Simpkins was named President and sole owner and director of this family-run business. With the help of her family, friends and experienced co-workers, she is excited to carry on the tradition and successful history of a great company.
We are committed to developing long-term relationships with our clients, based on safety, quality, timely service, and anticipation of their needs. To help fulfill our commitment, we will continue to involve our employees with the quality improvement process, remain fair and true in all our employee and client dealings, and foster a work environment that encourages new ideas, continual education and growth.
